ARTbound 2014 - 2020

ABOUT ARTbound

In 2013, an art gallery I worked for, when I was in my early 20s, was unfortunately about to close and our exhibitors would have been left without any place to exhibit their creations. So in 2014 ARTbound was born!

Initially launching as a website to promote artists creations to becoming a full arts organisation, focussed on providing established artists with events to present their work to wider audiences, whilst also giving emerging artists the opportunity to enter the art world. I worked closely with art galleries, buyers and partnering venues across Yorkshire, to curate individually themed events for artists to sell their work.

Over the 6 years, I hosted 30 large scale exhibitions, 8 fairs and various pop-ups and installations in Yorkshire, working with over 1000 national and international artists.

In 2016, I curated a fundraising art exhibition selling donations by national artists, including photographer Martin Parr and BBC Wildlife ‘Artist of the Year’ Stella Mays, raising over £2000 for the Watermark Fund.

In 2018, ARTbound developed an interactive website with user-friendly profiles and a membership scheme for regular exhibitors to gain extra incentives throughout the year.

By 2019, our 5th annual Christmas ARTfair in Hebden Bridge was the last hosted event. Due to the Covid-19 disruptions, our partnering venues closed and subsequent events were cancelled. Unfortunately in May 2020, I made the difficult decision to close ARTbound.

This page pays homage to all the artists I worked with, the venues who hosted us and the pride I still hold from starting a business. Here’s to the next chapter!
